The timing of this was a trap to get them all squawking about this issue while the government was on the precipice of shutdown. To make the Repubs look small and shrill... Looks like the Repubs haven't taken the bait... Not yet.... But... the Repubs know that when this makes it to the Supremes the deck is stacked in their favor.... That's all my completely unsolicited, uninformed wild guess appraisal of the issues of the day!.... LOL
Thanks for weighing in, Todd and John. Optimistically, I do feel like our country is more in favor of equal rights than not. So I have my gay fingers crossed.

Yes - unconstitutional laws need to be challenged, or not enforced.
It's something liberals, libertarians, social conservatives (true conservatives) democrats and and classic progressive Republicans can agree on.
A Supreme Court challenge is also needed, because on the basis of sheer constitutionality, Defense of Marriage is akin to segregation.
