How Will They Say It?

After the banks are sort of nationalized and the automobile industry is sort of nationalized and healthcare is sort of nationalized, and they all presumably function, how will the conservatives wrestle everything back so they can profit from these businesses?

You know, there is the old post office thing pushed around by Righties. “Government doesn’t work. Just look at the Post Office.” I never understood this since I have never held anything but complete respect and gratitude for the Post Office. I have never had anything lost, ever. And I ship and receive all sorts of things.

So, I think the new saying could be and should have always been, “Government works. Just look at the Post Office.”

So maybe you have to wait on line a little bit. Maybe you’ll make a new friend or fall in love. Anytime spent away from Facebook is good for you!

It’s all about The Post Office. The second ounce is just seventeen cents. A bargain!

I totally agree even though I have had a few things lost. But when taken in the context of how much I've mailed it's a good track record. And cheap! Also I worked for USPS HQ in Washington DC on a federal contract back in the 90's. I was always impressed with them. They have their own forensics lab that has a 98% conviction rate for mail crimes. Better than the FBI by far. Other things too - like Cuba won't accept mail from the US. There are other countries that are the same. So the USPS found a way around that. They pay Canada to deliver it! I found them resourceful, hard-working and smart. Oh, and working for the phone company was SO MUCH BETTER when it was a government regulated monopoly. When they actually put service first. Oh, and 9/11? Trust me, if it happened again they'd never get the stock market back up and running in a week. Because back then most of the network was still owned by Verizon which had incorporated Nynex. All that cable was still maintained by employees who had decades of experience in going down in holes and fixing stuff that was totally a mess.

Whew! Guess that touched a nerve!

One more thing. If one kept a supply of stamped postcards($.28) on one's desk one could dash off most of those 2-line email messages and ship them off. Then it would be obvious which ones were important, and think of the revenue for the P.O.! (And don't tell me about saving the trees. They are a renewable source.) Mother/Judith
